Beautiful Book Set!

Black apple fun

I have been a fan of Emily Martin for several years, ever since I found her blog The Black Apple. She is an extremely talented illustrator and I love admiring her work. I purchased one of her limited edition prints of The Black Apple alphabet and was so pleased with it! If I had a gazillion dollars, I would buy so much more, but when her Oddfellow's Orphanage book set came out, I could not resist! I snatched up a listing and love it so much!

The set includes a signed copy of Ms. Martin's new book "Oddfellow's Orphanage," a bookmark, a little pin with Ollie the onion, and a signed and dated print of her Circus Parade illustration. It is my hope to one day decorate a nursery with a circus theme, and the print with this set fits perfectly with that!

You'll notice from my photo that I also bought a set of her recipe cards. They are so sweet and wonderful. I just love everything about it all!

Day 25: National Craft Month

Today's craft is a little bit of relaxing knitting. I am a slow knitter, so my project may take a while to complete. My hope is to make a cute little bunny! Wish me luck! What are you working on these days?

Days 23 & 24: National Craft Month

Easter eggs

Cadbury

Basket of Bunnies

The last two days have been pretty busy, but I was able to complete 2 more Easter eggs for the bunny dolls I made. I will be listing Cadbury and Cottontail to join Clover and Carrot in my Etsy shop pretty soon, so they needed some great accessories to go with them!

Day 22: National Craft Month

Oh dear.

I am afraid that I have fallen behind on the crafting and picture taking. Things have been a little out-of-sorts lately, and I'm still getting it together. I have tried to do something creative each day, although I didn't necessarily get to document it all.

Here are bits and pieces of some of the things I have been doing:

Turning buttons into earrings.

Making bows and pretty gift baskets.

Keep calm, and craft on!

Day 14: National Craft Month

Craft E Magee shop
Today's craftiness was all digital. These things are more creative than crafty per se, but creative counts too, right? One thing I did was to create a new header for my Etsy shop. I used the wrapping paper background that I use for a lot of my doll photos. I think it looks fresh! What do you think?

I also built a super fun treasury of all things NEON on etsy!
Nice Neons
Check out all the fun etsy items from the "Nice Neons" treasury here.

I listed Clover and Carrot the bunny dolls on etsy, and Carrot was featured in a treasury! So was Mya the ballerina! It's all very exciting to me. Yipee!

Day 13: National Craft Month

I'll be honest... unless you count blowing up balloons or assembling balloon weights from tissue paper and coffee mugs, I did not get to craft yesterday. Gasp! I did help to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Girl Scouts(!), but was too exhausted to craft when I got home later. Sad!

Today, I got back on the ball, and fashioned something NEON! I am loving all the neon colors trending everywhere, including the current issues of Martha Stewart Living and Oprah Magazine.

I have long had these neon felt shapes that I found at the Dollar Tree store, but never figured out what to do them. Finally, I was inspired to back them with brightly colored felt, and use them as table trivets for hot food plates! What do you think?

Now I think it's time to find some colorful jeans and spruce up my wardrobe for Spring!

Day 11: National Craft Month

Needle felting is turning out to be quite productive. I've completed a few accessories for the little bunnies. Carrot and Clover each received a new prop--a carrot for Carrot and an Easter egg for Clover.

Days 9 & 10: National Craft Month

I've been hard at work on some crafts for National Craft Month, although it is pretty easy to get distracted by the beautiful early Spring we are having.

On Day 9 I finished up the 3 little bunnies I was working on. Meet Carrot, Cottontail, and Clover! They are Cadbury's friends.

Today I started work on a needle felting craft. I have never done needle felting before, but loved all of the completed projects I have seen all over the internet. Inspired by this post, I decided it was time to give it a try!

I love getting my craft on, but here are some other fun bits and pieces for Spring.
Neon eggs
I love Martha's cover this month. The neon eggs are awesome!

Tornado, Rainbow, and Sun
My nephew drew me a great picture after our recent tornado.

Daffodils

Amazingly, the daffodils survived, even after the tornado and the snow we had the day after that. Actually, I'm hoping the recent sunshine sticks around with all the crazy weather we've had.

Hannah doll

Meet Hannah! She is the little doll I posted a teaser photo of, but couldn't share fully at the time because she was a birthday present, and hadn't been delivered yet.
Hannah has beautiful auburn hair, blue eyes, freckles, and porcelain skin, just like her owner!

She is dressed for Spring, perfect for a March baby! I love the dress colors and the crossed lace in the back.

Hope this counts as my craft of the day, because I wasn't able to really do much today. Hope you enjoy the newest doll!

Day 7: National Craft Month

Today I was able to get pretty far on the bunnies to be. Cadbury almost has 3 new friends named Carrot, Cottontail, and Clover.

I hope to finish these sweeties by the weekend. Stay tuned!

Are you crafting yet? Link it up in the comments! Happy crafting!

Day 6: National Craft Month

Yesterday was Day 6 of National Craft month. I spent most of my evening being crafty at the D.I.Y. Louisville meet up. I was able to finish up the embroidered faces on my bunnies-to-be, as well as most of the work to be done on the bunny arms and legs.

I have also been working on some more of these little guys that I made a few Easters ago.

Froggy

This bunny and frog were adapted from the free knit pattern from Little Cotton Rabbits. Love her stuff! I'm thinking they would make excellent props for some of my dolls!

Day 5: National Craft Month

For the 5th day of National Craft Month, I completed the little bunny doll that I started on Day 4!

Meet Cadbury, the little chocolate colored bunny! Sorry that the pictures are so terrible! I didn't have any daylight to work with. Also, I took one of the pictures in front of a cardboard box. Lovely, eh?

Cadbury will soon be joined by 3 little friends who are currently in progress. Have you jumped on the craft a day bandwagon for National Craft Month? Let me know in the comments! I'd love to see what you're working on!

Day 4: National Craft Month

Today I started to work on some fun new dolls for Spring--bunny rabbits! I cut out 4 sets of ears, arms, legs, and bodies in different colors. I got farthest on this little guy.

The face, ears, and arms are all finished on this bunny. Now I just need to stuff the legs and the body and sew it all up and add a fluffy tail!

I hope to share the finished bunny with you soon, along with his 3 friends!

Day 3: National Craft Month

Today's project was to make baby shoes from this great pattern. My cousin is having her baby shower soon, so I wanted to start on the gift now! I made some before as a gift for a baby boy on the way, and the person I gave them to loved them. These shoes are simple to make, and truly adorable.

For a little monkey
I decided to go with a cute monkey and frog fabric that I found at JoAnn's Fabrics. Baby K's nursery has a little monkey theme, so why not some little monkey shoes to match?

I am really enjoying this crafting every day thing because I am getting so much done! Along with these sweet shoes, I worked on some other projects, including the quilt that I worked on during Day 1. I love being productive!

Day 2: National Craft Month

I'm incredibly lucky to have crafted on my lunch break from work, because now I'm hunkered down in the basement with severe/possibly tornadic weather in Louisville. Seems like it might be bad for a little while. The Storm Chasers are here!

At lunch I was working on a hair clip and coat pin--both using a cute cheetah silk fabric flower.

Finished pictures to come, once I'm not trapped in the basement anymore.

**Update** Blue skies have returned. The weather wasn't as bad for Louisville as they all predicted. Although parts of Southern Indiana were hit hard. My thoughts are with them!

Here are pictures of the hair clip (modeled by my Mom) and the flower pin.
